BUFFALO 5, COLUMBUS 1: A night after the Clippers scored 21 runs, Jeurys Familia threw 5 2/3 scoreless innings while striking out six, allowing two hits and walking two. Familia retired eight in a row between the third and sixth innings. Brad Emaus homered in the top of the first. In the second, Lucas May knocked in Matt Tuiasosopo, who had walked, to extend the lead to 2-0. The Herd later tacked on three more runs -- on Corey Wimberly's RBI single and Fred Lewis' double as well as a throwing error by Clippers catcher Matt Pagnozzi. Relievers Justin Hampson, Edgar Ramirez and Fernando Cabrera combined to toss 2 2/3 innings, allowing one run. Ramirez had been promoted from Double-A Binghamton. Clippers starter Eric Berger tossed six innings, striking out eight and giving up two runs. Familia improved to 5-2 with a 2.94 ERA and 36 strikeouts. Lewis and Emaus combined to go 6-for-9. HARRISBURG 4, BINGHAMTON 3: Eury Perez ripped a go-ahead, two-run double off Robert Carson to lead the Senators to victory. The B-Mets pounded out 13 hits in the game, but produced only three runs, all in the first inning. Matt den Dekker started that rally by doubling against starter Mike Ballard. Josh Rodriguez brought him home by launching a triple. Jefry Marte followed with another triple. Juan Lagares capped scoring by bouncing an RBI single up the middle. A half-inning later, Perez led off by ripping a double against B-Mets starter Collin McHugh. Manny Mayorson got Harrisburg on the board with an RBI double. Devin Ivany cut the B-Mets' lead down to one with an RBI single in the second. McHugh shook off his shaky first two innings and settled in. After the hit to Ivany, the righty retired 13 of the next 16 Senators, allowing just one hit over the stretch. His good fortune came to an end in the seventh. He hit Ivany with a pitch and surrendered a pinch-hit double to Jimmy Van Ostrand. With the B-Mets clinging to a 3-2 lead, Carson entered with the tying run on third and go-ahead run at second. The first batter he faced, Perez, shot a 1-0 offering down the right-field line for a two-run double. With two outs in the eighth and Juan Centeno at second, Pedro Zapata waved at the third strike from Erik Davis. The ball kicked free from Ivany and the catcher’s throw to first evaded Tim Pahuta. Centeno tried to score, but was gunned down as Pahuta recovered and fired home to end the inning. In the ninth, den Dekker led off with an infield single. With one out and Marte hitting in a 2-2 count, den Dekker broke for second. Marte struck out swinging and den Dekker was called out on batter’s interference to end the game. With the two runners inherited by Carson scoring, McHugh (5-4) was charged with four runs on six hits over 6 2/3 innings. Carson suffered his second blown save. ST. LUCIE 3, CLEARWATER 1: Right-hander Yohan Almonte tossed seven scoreless innings and Alonzo Harris Jr. homered for the second straight game. Almonte struck out three and issued one walk while allowing six hits in a season-high workload to improve to 6-0 on the season. Adam Kolarek earned a six-out save -- his ninth save of the season. He surrendered a run on two hits while striking out three. For the second consecutive game, Harris drilled a leadoff homer over the left-field fence to give the Mets a 1-0 lead in the first. The Mets (46-13) scored a pair of runs in the fourth inning to create some distance. Francisco Pena's groundout scored Wilmer Flores. Richard Lucas added a double to plate Blake Forsythe. James Murphy hit a leadoff homer in the ninth. Kolarek bounced back by retiring the next three batters, including a pair of strikeouts. Forsythe’s 14-game hitting streak was snapped, but he reached base on a walk and scored a run. Box

SAVANNAH 8, ASHEVILLE 1: Making his first start since landing on the DL after an April 17 appearance, Logan Verrett took a no-hitter into the sixth. With one out, David Kandilas dropped a bunt single up the third-base line to break up Verrett’s no-hit bid. The Gnats (34-23) ultimately within 5½ games of the first-place Tourists (40-18) with 12 games to play in the first half. After a walk and a hit-by-pitch to start the first, Verrett collected 16 outs in a row until Kandilas’ bunt. A pair of clean singles and an escalating pitch count chased Verrett in the seventh. He earned his first win of 2012 while tossing a season-high 6 1/3 innings. Verrett struck out four and walking one. The Gnats scored the game’s first run in the bottom of the first on back-to-back doubles by T.J. Rivera and Dustin Lawley. Rivera, one of three Gnats All-Stars, finished 3-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and three RBIs. Savannah added two runs in the third, keyed by Brian Harrison's RBI double. RBI singles from Gregory Pron and Rivera gave the Gnats a 5-0 lead in the sixth. The Tourists picked up their only run in the seventh, on a sacrifice fly by Tyler Massey. The Gnats completed the game’s scoring with three runs in the bottom of the eighth. Rivera doubled up the left-center gap to drive home two. Travis Taijeron added a sacrifice fly. Box
