BUFFALO 3, COLUMBUS 2: Bisons starter Garrett Olson pitched five-plus innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on eight hits while striking out three. Manny Acosta, Josh Edgin and Fernando Cabrera combined to pitch four scoreless innings, allowing only one hit while striking out seven. Cabrera recorded his 13th save, giving him sole possession of the International League lead. The Bisons scored in the first inning on RBI singles by Valentino Pascucci and Raul Reyes. Corey Wimberly delivered an RBI single in the sixth as the Bisons took a 3-1 lead. Wimberly, Reyes, Sean Kazmar and Dustin Martin all had multi-hit nights. Box

BINGHAMTON 4, HARRISBURG 1: Zack Wheeler allowed one unearned run in seven innings to win his sixth straight start. He struck out seven, walked four and hit a batter in a 104-pitch effort. For the third straight game, the B-Mets grabbed the lead in the first inning. Matt den Dekker lined a single against starter Danny Rosenbaum. It was the first of eight hits the B-Mets collected against Rosenbaum, who had tossed a complete game against Binghamton in May. With two outs, Jefry Marte ripped an RBI double down the left-field line to give Binghamton the lead. The B-Mets added to their lead in the fourth. Josh Rodriguez doubled and scored two batters later on a single by Juan Lagares. Lagares swiped second base and took third when catcher Jeremy Mayo’s throw skipped into center. Rylan Sandoval drove him in by shooting a single through the hole on the right side. The advantage was more than enough for Wheeler. The righty allowed at least one runner in each of the first three innings, but kept Harrisburg off the board. The Senators had runners on the corners in the third and tried to execute a double-steal, but Chris McConnell was gunned down at home. Eury Perez’s single in the third was the final hit Wheeler allowed. Wheeler followed by posting scoreless frames in the fourth and fifth, before the B-Mets stumbled in the sixth in the field. Harrisburg plated its only run without a hit. The B-Mets committed three errors -- all on booted groundballs, which allowed Perez to score. Binghamton plated its final run against Rosenbaum in the seventh. Lagares started the inning by doubling. The right fielder moved to third on a single by Joe Bonfe and came home when Jesus Valdez bobbled the hit in left field. Wheeler came back for the seventh and worked around a leadoff walk to post a scoreless inning. He induced pinch hitter Jimmy Van Ostrand to bounce into a double play to cap his night. Wheeler (6-2) lowered his ERA to 1.66. Adrian Rosario took over for Wheeler and took the game to the finish line. He navigated around two-out singles in the eighth and ninth and posted two scoreless frames. He fanned pinch hitter Stephen King for the final out and earned his second save as a B-Met. Box

CLEARWATER 3, ST. LUCIE 2: Cory Vaughn hit his 11th homer, but St. Lucie mustered only two other hits. The Mets lost only their fifth game at home all season. Blake Forsythe drew a two-out walk in the ninth and represented the tying run at first base. But Francisco Pena flied out to deep center to end the game. Pena finished 2-for-4 with a double. Vaughn ripped a leadoff homer in the fourth to cut the deficit to 3-2. Angel Cuan allowed three runs on six hits over 5 1/3 innings while striking out five. Cuan surrendered a two-run homer to Zach Collier in the second inning as the Mets fell behind 3-0. Kyle Allen tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings while allowing a hit with a walk and recording one strikeout. Taylor Whitenton pitched two relief innings and surrendered one hit while walking and striking out three. Box

SAVANNAH 5, ASHEVILLE 4: Down 4-0 entering the bottom of the third of Game 2, the Gnats scored five unanswered runs. In the fourth, three doubles -- from T.J. Rivera, Travis Taijeron and Brian Harrison -- helped produce two runs to draw the Gnats within a run. An inning later, Brandon Brown launched a two-run homer. Gnats starter Michael Fulmer fought his way through five innings to earn the win despite allowing four runs on five hits and two walks while fanning four. T.J. Chism induced three groundballs in the ninth to lock up his 10th save in 10 chances. All of the scoring in Game 1 occurred on one swing. In the second inning, Taylor Featherston walked and Brian Humphries followed with a two-run homer against Savannah starter Rafael Montero. Montero worked six innings innings.
