WASHINGTON -- Reliever Jack Egbert, who was designated for assignment when the Mets needed to open a 40-man roster spot for Chris Young, has cleared waivers. Egbert will rejoin Triple-A Buffalo.

A native of Rutherford, N.J., and Rutgers product, Egbert made two relief appearances with the Mets before the demotion. Terry Collins spoke highly of Egbert's sinker and predicted he would contribute again at the major league level this season.
