NORFOLK 5, BUFFALO 4 (5 innings): Jeurys Familia's outing turned from a scoreless effort to a rain-shortened loss in the span of three outs. Buffalo took a 4-0 lead into the top of the fifth, when Familia surrendered five runs, including a two-run homer by Lew Ford. The game was called due to rain after the Bisons went down scoreless in the bottom half of the inning. Corey Wimberly tripled and scored in the first inning. Brad Emaus contributed an RBI single an inning later. Emaus also produced a two-run homer in the fourth. Buffalo will welcome center fielder Matt den Dekker, who received a promotion from Double-A Binghamton. Den Dekker, the reigning Easterl League Player of the Week, will lead off for the Bisons, manager Wally Backman said. Box
ST. LUCIE 3, CHARLOTTE 2 (12 innings): Francisco Pena delivered a leadoff homer in the top of the 12th. Juan Torres drove in St. Lucie's other runs, on a two-run single in the second inning. Kyle Allen contributed three scoreless relief innings with five strikeouts. John Church had a scoreless 11th to improve to 2-2. Adam Kolarek notched his 10th save. Box
CHARLESTON at SAVANNAH (ppd.): The Gnats' games were postponed by rain. Monday’s regularly scheduled game has been rescheduled for Wednesday as part of a doubleheader. The two teams also are scheduled for two on Tuesday. The first game will be the completion of Sunday’s game in Charleston, which was suspended with the Gnats leading 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning. The second game will be scheduled for seven innings.
