Justin Turner (ankle/foot) and Ronny Cedeño (calf) will rehab with Triple-A Buffalo this weekend.
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Justin Turner, who is due to begin a rehab assignment on Thursday night with Triple-A Buffalo, will have company. Ronny Cedeño, who landed on the DL with a left calf strain on May 27, is scheduled to join the Bisons on Friday.

Neither player will be activated from the DL until after the weekend, Terry Collins said.

Rehab coordinator Jon Debus told Collins that Turner (ankle/foot) could be ready Sunday. But given how Jason Bay was hitless in his first 18 at-bats after returning from only a three-game rehab stint, the Mets resolved to keep Turner facing minor league pitching at least through the weekend.

Assuming Turner returns before Cedeño, Collins said, Omar Quintanilla will remain the starting shortstop. The manager said it's comforting to know, however, that Turner can man shortstop if an in-game situation arose.
