Dickey, Santana on normal rest? Maybe

With a Thursday off-day, Terry Collins said it was possible that R.A. Dickey and Johan Santana could continue to pitch on their fifth days, which would happen to be Saturday and Sunday games against the Yankees (after Monday and Tuesday starts against Baltimore).

That would require Chris Young to wait more than a week after tomorrow's start against the Cincinnati Reds, though, so Collins was unsure whether he would want to alter the order.

Since his no-hitter, Santana -- working on two and then one extra day of rest -- has struggled with command in a pair of starts. The difficulty with locating pitches has been attributed to the extra layoff between starts. So that makes the consideration of juggling the rotation to avoid disrupting Dickey and Santana's routines (at the expense of Young) at least on the table, according to Collins.
