Wright destined for Star-dom

CHICAGO -- David Wright has all but locked up the National League starting nod at third base for the July 10 All-Star Game in Kansas City.

In voting results released Tuesday, Wright (2,687,818) handily leads runner-up Pablo Sandoval (2,223,269) as well as David Freese (2,064,351) and Chipper Jones (1,958,447).

Wright is hitting an MLB-best .358. He also has a 15-game hitting streak, the longest active in the majors.

Online balloting closes Thursday at 11:59 p.m., with the teams announced Sunday.
