BUFFALO 8, LOUISVILLE 0: Matt Harvey pitched seven scoreless innings, striking out nine. He retired the first 14 batters, until Paul Janish singled with two out in the fifth. Harvey allowed only three batters to reach, on two hits and a walk. Harvey now has an International League-leading 96 strikeouts. His seven wins lead the Bisons. Oswaldo Navarro, Matt den Dekker and Josh Rodriguez all delivered solo homers. It was Navarro's first long ball this season. Rodriguez went 4-for-5 and scored three runs. He is hitting .375 (11-for-29) with three homers and five RBIs since being called up from Double-A Binghamton on June 21. Brad Emaus went 3-for-4 with three RBIs. BOWIE 8, BINGHAMTON 5: The Baysox scored 33 runs and collected 49 hits in the four-game series while extending the B-Mets' home losing streak to six games. Dustin Martin's two-run homer off Zach Clark staked the B-Mets to an early lead. Binghamton starter Greg Peavey carried that advantage into the fifth, when his scoreless effort ended. No. 9 hitter Jai Miller squeaked a two-out, two-run homer over the right-field wall to even the score. Bowie took the lead for good with a three-run sixth. Manny Machado made Peavey pay for issuing two walks by stroking a two-run double. Rhyne Hughes followed with an RBI double. Armando Rodriguez surrendered a solo homer in the seventh. Clark settled in after Martin’s homer and retired 14 of the next 15 B-Mets. The stretch came to an end when he walked Eric Campbell to start the seventh. After a single by Wilmer Flores, Travis Ozga provided a two-out RBI single and Sean Kazmar cut the deficit to two with a run-scoring double. Reliever Robert Hinton entered and induced Juan Lagares to ground out to end the inning, stranding the tying run on second. In the eighth, Bowie's Robbie Widlansky singled, moved to second on a throwing error by catcher Francisco Pena, took third on a single and scored on a sac fly. Trailing by three, the B-Mets loaded the bases on three singles in the eighth. They only scratched across one run, on Martin's groundout. Pena struck out to end the inning. After the Baysox added one more run in the ninth against Edgar Ramirez, the B-Mets went down in order against Kyler Newby. Peavey (3-5) surrendered five runs on eight hits over six innings. ST. LUCIE 4, JUPITER 2 (12 innings): Alonzo Harris Jr. opened the 12th with a triple and scored on Rylan Sandoval's single to break a 4-all tie. Cory Vaughn pushed the lead to two runs later in the frame with a sacrifice fly. Sandoval earlier produced a solo homer. BROOKLYN 5, ABERDEEN 2: The Cyclones tagged Aberdeen starter Cameron Coffey for four third-inning runs, fueled by Phillip Evans' two-out, two-run homer. Following the long ball, Kevin Plawecki was hit by a pitch and scored on Cole Frenzel's triple. Frenzel scored when Stefan Sabol doubled. Brooklyn starter Rainy Lara retired the first 12 batters he faced before surrendering a leadoff triple to Torsten Boss in the fifth. Cameron Edman's ensuing RBI single cut Brooklyn's lead to 4-1. Jerome Pena knocked Lara from the game in the sixth with a two-out solo homer. Lara struck out 10 in 5 2/3 innings. Lara became the 22nd player in Cyclones history to strike out 10 or more in a game, and the first since A.J. Pinera on Aug. 12, 2010 at Auburn. Brooklyn reliever Beck Wheeler took over in the sixth and walked Will Howard. Howard stole second, but Wheeler struck out Boss to end the inning. Back-to-back doubles by Frenzel and Sabol in the eighth gave the Cyclones a 5-2 lead. Frenzel went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.
