No temptation to start surging Ike

LOS ANGELES -- Terry Collins said he had no reservations about sitting Ike Davis on Sunday night and starting righty-hitting Justin Turner at first base.

Davis delivered a three-run homer Saturday. He has 24 RBIs in June, third most in the NL, trailing only Arizona's Jason Kubel (27) and Pittsburgh's Andrew McCutchen (26). Davis' five homers in June with at least two players on base were the most in a month in franchise history.

Fellow lefty hitters Daniel Murphy and Kirk Nieuwenhuis also are out of the lineup Sunday. In fact, the only lefty hitter starting against southpaw Clayton Kershaw is right fielder Lucas Duda.

"Not today," Collins said about Davis starting. "I had already decided coming in here that those guys were going to play against [left-hander Chris] Capuano [Thursday], and that Sunday the right handers were going to play. That was preconceived, been a while. If we can get to Clayton and get him out of the game, we've got some left-handed hitters that can come in and pick out our spot and use them."
