Beato to replace Hefner

After allowing a pair of inherited runners to score in the eighth, then a two-run homer to Ty Wigginton during a three-run ninth that capped Philadelphia's 9-2 win Wednesday, Jeremy Hefner was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo.

Pedro Beato will join the Mets on Thursday.

Beato is 3-2 with a 1.12 ERA in 16 relief appearances with Buffalo this season. He has allowed 15 hits and walked nine (three intentionally) while striking out 18 in 24 innings.
