Tony La Russa has selected Matt Cain to start opposite Justin Verlander in Tuesday's All-Star Game in Kansas City, John Harper of the Daily News tweeted.

Cain has the first perfect game in Giants history on his resume this season.

"Look, I want to start the game. Of course I do," Dickey said Sunday. "I think any competitor would like to."

The official announcement is expected at a 1:30 p.m. ET news conference.
