After a whirlwind U.S. tour in which he was claimed off waivers by four different organizations in a five-week span -- most recently back by the Mets from the Yankees last week -- Chris Schwinden finally has cleared waivers, according to a major league source.

That means he is pitching for Triple-A Buffalo as a non-40-man roster player, opening a roster spot potentially for the promotion of lefty reliever Josh Edgin.
Adam Rubin has covered the Mets since 2003. He's a graduate of Mepham High School on Long Island and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He joined ESPNNewYork after spending 10 years at the New York Daily News.
