ATLANTA -- Lucas Duda will have his balky left hamstring examined Monday in New York to determine the extent of the strain, Terry Collins said. The manager added that he did not believe Duda was a disabled list candidate.

Duda pinch hit on Saturday night, but is not in the starting lineup for a second straight day Sunday. Collins said "the explosion in the outfield" when Duda is breaking for a ball is when the hamstring most is an issue.

"We'll find out tomorrow how bad it is," Collins said.

• Jason Bay's rehab assignment continues Sunday with Triple-A Buffalo. Bay is starting in left field for the Bisons today at Pawtucket. Collins said he will call the outfielder later in the day to seek his input about whether Bay is ready to be activated from the disabled list Tuesday in Washington. Collins expected Bay should play rehab games at least through Buffalo's Monday game against Toledo.

• Mike Baxter is due to begin a rehab assignment today with Class A St. Lucie as he returns from a displaced collarbone. Collins estimated Baxter would need 25 to 30 minor league at-bats because he has not played since June 1.

• Josh Thole is playing through a hamstring injury, which he injured before the All-Star break slipping out of the box on a rainy day.
