Lucas Duda appeared to dodge a bullet when the Mets demoted Pedro Beato after Monday's game. After all, it seemed like Beato would clear the roster spot needed for Matt Harvey.

Not so fast.

In a late-night maneuver, the Mets announced Manny Acosta would return from Triple-A Buffalo in the Beato spot.

That means the Mets still need to clear room for Harvey's activation Tuesday. There have been strong indications Duda will be that casualty.

Acosta tossed two scoreless innings Monday night for Buffalo against Charlotte. In seven weeks in Triple-A, he had a 2.28 ERA in 17 appearances spanning 28 innings.
