The Mets have optioned Mike Nickeas to Triple-A Buffalo and promoted Rob Johnson from the Bisons in a swap of catchers prior to their 11-game West Coast road trip, the team announced Wednesday.

Johnson will be available for Thursday night's game in Arizona, the team said. The 30-year-old veteran hit .313 in 11 games for the Mets earlier this season.

Nickeas, 29, was hitting .168 with one home run and 13 RBI in 42 games before his demotion.
