SAN DIEGO -- Ronny Cedeño started at second base over Daniel Murphy on Friday. That's partly a reward for Cedeño's five-RBI performance a day earlier in San Francisco, especially considering the Mets are facing another left-hander, Clayton Richard, in the series opener at Petco Park.

But Terry Collins said Murphy also is dealing with a wrist injury. Murphy was hit directly on the bone with a first-inning pitch from Barry Zito on Thursday.

Murphy had his right wrist taped pregame Friday, but headed out to batting practice to participate with teammates.
