Byrdak has torn anterior capsule

The Mets received bad news on Monday, as an MRI revealed that lefty reliever Tim Byrdak has a torn anterior capsule in his shoulder.

Byrdak, who leads all major-league relievers in appearances, is likely headed for surgery. Johan Santana and Chris Young both had surgery after tearing their anterior capsules.
