Jason Bay starts in left field for the Mets with the Braves sending southpaw Paul Maholm to the mound on Friday night. Rob Johnson is starting for the first time since bruising his right hand Sunday in San Diego, the last time Matt Harvey pitched.

Andres Torres is in the leadoff spot for only the second time since the All-Star break after his 3-for-3, three-RBI performance Thursday against the Marlins, which moves Ruben Tejada to the No. 2 spot, where he is best suited. And, as is becoming fairly common against southpaws, Daniel Murphy slides to first base, with Ronny Cedeño manning second base and Ike Davis sitting.
