BUFFALO 6, LEHIGH VALLEY 0: Jeurys Familia tossed seven scoreless innings and combined with Robert Carson on the five-hit shutout. Matt den Dekker belted a grand slam in a five-run seventh inning against Joe Savery. Den Dekker became the first Bison to have two grand slams in a season since Chris Clapinski had four in 2004 when Buffalo was affiliated with the Indians. The Bisons had opened the scoring in the fourth when Fred Lewis led off with his 22nd double of the season and eventually raced home on a wild pitch. Familia allowed four hits and one walk while striking out eight in a 94-pitch effort. Box
NEW HAMPSHIRE 5, BINGHAMTON 2: The B-Mets struck out a season-high 14 times and mustered only five hits against five Fisher Cats pitchers, including rehabbing major leaguer Brandon Morrow. Against B-Mets starter Gonzalez Germen in the fourth, New Hamsphire opened the scoring when Brad Glenn singled, moved to third on two groundouts and came home on Ryan Schimpf’s single. Morrow, making his second rehab appearance with the Fisher Cats, struck out six over 4 2/3 scoreless innings. He allowed three hits while issuing no walks. Morrow exited after allowing a two-out double to Francisco Pena in the fifth. Michael Dubee entered the one-run game and struck out Wilfredo Tovar to strand the tying run on base. New Hampshire added to its lead a half-inning later. With a runner aboard, Kevin Howard blistered the first pitch from Germen over the right-field wall. Dubee returned for the sixth and surrendered Binghamton’s only runs. With two outs, Eric Campbell singled and Allan Dykstra blasted a two-run homer to trim the deficit to 3-2. But the Fisher Cats plated two runs in the sixth against Germen. With the bases loaded, Brian Jeroloman dribbled a groundball up the first-base line. Germen fielded the roller cleanly, but his throw home sailed past Pena, allowing two runs to score. Jeff Kaplan closed the inning by getting two outs. He added a scoreless seventh. Edgar Ramirez threw a perfect eighth after getting activated from the disabled list before the game. Germen (6-10) suffered his fourth straight loss with the B-Mets. Box
ST. LUCIE 9, PALM BEACH 8: Kyle Allen and Adrian Rosario combined to surrender six runs in the top of the ninth as St. Lucie squandered an 8-2 lead. But the Mets produced a walk-off win a half-inning later when Blake Forsythe's single scored T.J. Rivera. Cory Vaughn, Robbie Shields and Danny Muno each contributed early homers. Chase Huchingson limited the Cardinals to two runs in six innings and Jack Leathersich tossed two scoreless relief innings as St. Lucie took a six-run lead to the ninth. Box
LEXINGTON 10, SAVANNAH 1: The Legends built a 10-0 lead as the Gnats failed to score until two outs in the bottom of the ninth, when Charley Thurber's single plated Albert Cordero, who had doubled. The Legends began the scoring with two runs in the second inning, added a run in the third, then chased Gnats starter Alex Panteliodis with four runs in the sixth. Panteliodis was charged with seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings. The seven runs allowed by Panteliodis were his most in a start since May 16. Matt Reynolds and Cam Maron picked up two hits apiece in the loss. Box
KINGSPORT 4, JOHNSON CITY 2
JOHNSON CITY 4, KINGSPORT 2: Matt Budgell tossed three scoreless relief innings to earn the win in the opener. The K-Mets overcame a 2-0 deficit with a three-run third, which included a two-run double by Yeixon Ruiz. In the nightcap, Kingsport trailed 4-0 entering the bottom of the final frame. Jeyckol De Leon then contributed a two-run double, but Johnson City reliever Ronald Shaban entered and struck out Anthony Chavez and coaxed a game-ending groundout from pinch hitter Jonathan Leroux.
