Dillon Gee, who had a favorable three-week appointment following surgery to repair a damaged shoulder artery, next is scheduled to travel to St. Louis for an Aug. 24 follow-up exam. Doctors will need to do invasive testing during that visit to gauge the healing from surgery.

Gee hopes to begin tossing a baseball after that exam, although he has labeled a 2012 return "unrealistic."
