The Mets are a mess. They’re 11-26 since the All-Star break and dropped to nine games under .500 for the first time in three years following a 6-2 loss to the Rockies on Tuesday night, which prompted manager Terry Collins to hold a team meeting.
Read game recaps in the Star-Ledger, Daily News, Record and Newsday.
Wednesday’s news reports:
• Rookie right-hander Matt Harvey will try to stop the bleeding on Wednesday night, but the biggest news will come before the game when the results of Johan Santana’s MRI are expected to be announced.
• If Santana cannot start Thursday afternoon, Colin McHugh has been promoted from Triple-A to the taxi squad to take his place. Adam Rubin has a scouting report on McHugh, who has been described as a “Dillon Gee type” who relies on pinpoint control.
• Kids can attend Thursday afternoon’s game for free.
TRIVIA: Chris Young opened Tuesday night’s game with four consecutive strikeouts. Who was the last Met to accomplish the feat prior to Young?
Tuesday answer: Jorge Toca and Matt Franco were the players that Bobby Valentine said could play first base in 2000 during his infamous speech at Penn's Wharton School of Business that year.

I'm confident Ike will be with #Mets Friday, barring something unforeseen. Don't know how much time he has, though, with glare intensifying.
