Lucas Duda will return to the Mets for Sunday's rubber game against the Houston Astros. Duda had been optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on July 24.

Terry Collins said he expects Duda primarily will play left field, with some activity at first base to spell Ike Davis, for the remainder of the season.

Duda hit .260 with three homers and eight RBIs in 96 at-bats with the Bisons. He appeared in 18 games in left field, four games in right field and two at first base during his demotion.

Duda had been 2-for-his-last-22 with the Mets immediately before being sent to the minors, but his return gives the team a desperately needed power threat. Mets coaches worked on spreading Duda's legs in his stance during his demotion.

The Mets announced they will make the corresponding roster move to open a roster spot before Sunday's game.
