JUPITER 3, ST. LUCIE 1: Jupiter broke a tie with a pair of eighth-inning runs as St. Lucie lost Game 1 of its best-of-three playoff series. Logan Verrett limited the Hammerheads to one run in five innings, but departed after a three-hour rain delay. Jack Leathersich contributed two scoreless relief innings. Box
LOWELL 9, BROOKLYN 1: The Cyclones’ magic number remained at one entering the final day of the season. Brooklyn needs a win Wednesday against Lowell or one loss by Batavia in its doubleheader to earn the New York-Penn League's wild-card berth. Cyclones starter Gabriel Ynoa allowed two runs (one earned) in five innings. Matt Bowman allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits in two innings in relief, while Beck Wheeler surrendered three earned runs in two innings. The Cyclones had the bases loaded with nobody out in the bottom of the fifth, but grabbed only one run. Two walks sandwiched a Dimas Ponce single to put three runners on base. Brandon Nimmo was then called out on strikes. Phillip Evans singled on a groundball to center to score Juan Gamboa. Ponce also tried to come home on the play, but was thrown out for the second out. After Mike Augliera replaced Justin Haley, Jayce Boyd flied out to center, stranding Nelfi Zapata at second. Box
