Left-handed reliever Robert Carson plans to play winter ball with Estrellas Orientales in the Dominican Republic.

Mark Brewer, the organization's Triple-A pitching coach, also serves in that capacity for the winter-ball team and can oversee Carson's usage.

Carson worked as a starter last season in the minors and logged 128 1/3 innings, while this year he has worked in relief and accumulated a fraction of that innings count.

Carson plans to spend only a month and toss 15 innings while pitching with Orientales.
