The Mets will open the 2013 season against the San Diego Padres at Citi Field, a major league source told ESPNNewYork.com.

The full schedule is expected to be announced by Major League Baseball this week.

National League East clubs, including the Mets, will face the American League Central in interleague play.

The Mets' first road trip of next season will take them to Colorado and Minnesota. Interleague play will be throughout the season with the Astros moving to the American League and 15 teams in each league.

The Mets went 4-3 in the season series against the Padres this year.
