Terry Collins expected closer Frank Francisco to remain unavailable Thursday, officially because of elbow tendinitis.

Collins said with Francisco's injury history, he wouldn't use the closer the first day he is declared available anyway. On Monday, Francisco was unable to squeeze his right hand closed, according to the manager.

“With his past elbow issues, when he says he’s ready, we’ll probably give him one more anyway,” Collins said.

Francisco said he will pitch again soon.

As for his litany of injuries -- most seriously involving an oblique -- he added: "There's nothing I can do about it. I just keep fighting and move on."
