While closer Frank Francisco has not officially been shut down for the season, it's unlikely the closer pitches again in 2012, Terry Collins acknowledged.

Francisco officially has elbow tendinitis.

"I talked to Frank again today. He didn't feel like he could play catch today," Collins said. "So it's getting near that point of no return."

The season ends next Wednesday in Miami.

Francisco is under contract for next season at $6.5 million.
