R.A. Dickey is scheduled to undergo surgery Thursday to repair a torn abdominal muscle.

After making his final 2012 start in Miami, the knuckleballer revealed he tore and possibly detached the stomach muscle during his second start of the season, on a cold April 13 night in Philadelphia. He dealt with "dull pain" in his stomach area throughout the season.

The surgery will take place in Philadelphia -- not with Mets doctors.

"Should be no big deal," Dickey tweeted Wednesday.

One other date to watch with Dickey: The National League Cy Young Award will be announced on Nov. 14.

• After two games in right field, Jordany Valdespin started at second base on Wednesday night in the Dominican Winter League.
Adam Rubin has covered the Mets since 2003. He's a graduate of Mepham High School on Long Island and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He joined ESPNNewYork after spending 10 years at the New York Daily News.
