Tejada, Panama lose WBC qualifier opener

Ruben Tejada went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts as the starting shortstop and host Panama lost the opening game of a World Baseball Classic qualifying tournament, 3-2 to Brazil on Thursday night.

Mets farmhand Angel Cuan tossed a scoreless relief inning. Manny Acosta did not appear in the opener for Panama.
