NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- With the Mets in need of a backup infielder to replace free agent Ronny Cedeno, Cesar Izturis may be a match.

Itzuris' agents are expected to meet with the Mets during the winter meetings.

The 32-year-old Izturis, a switch-hitter, hit a combined .241 with two homers and 11 RBIs in 166 at-bats for the Washington Nationals and Milwaukee Brewers last season.

The Mets did acquire Brandon Hicks from the Oakland Athletics on Nov. 26 as one option for that role.
