Report: No money exchange in deal

Jon Heyman reports the Mets will not receive any money to defray the $6 million salary of John Buck in 2013. That means they basically had a wash on payroll in the deal assuming they go with a minimum-wage catcher, since R.A. Dickey only due to make $5 million without an extension and Josh Thole was eligible for arbitration.

It makes the Mets' current 2013 projected payroll $94.3 million (including deferrals in the original year they are contractually linked).
