Lefty Hampson rejoins Mets

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Left-handed reliever Justin Hampson has re-signed with the Mets. He will report directly to minor league camp.

Hampson, 32, made 13 appearances for the Mets last season. He had a 1.80 ERA in 10 innings while allowing six hits, walking five and striking out four. Lefty batters were 3-for-20 against him (.150) with two walks.

He was 4-3 with a 2.33 ERA in 51 relief appearances with Triple-A Buffalo in 2012.

The Mets have several lefties in major league camp: Josh Edgin, Pedro Feliciano, Robert Carson, Scott Rice and Darin Gorski, plus injured Tim Byrdak.
