PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Right-hander Jenrry Mejia, whose visa application was flagged for review in the Dominican Republic, has been cleared and will arrive at Mets camp in the next day or two, a team spokesman said.

The Mets had portrayed Mejia as the subject of a random check in his native country, not the target of any probe.

Mejia, 23, has been working at the team's complex in the Dominican Republic.

Terry Collins said he intends for Mejia to be used as a starting pitcher.
Adam Rubin has covered the Mets since 2003. He's a graduate of Mepham High School on Long Island and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He joined ESPNNewYork after spending 10 years at the New York Daily News.
