PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- The Mets are being cautious with 2008 first-round pick Reese Havens in major league camp, easing him into activities without going full throttle like his teammates.

Havens has been tormented by back problems throughout his minor league career. He professed to feel fine Wednesday.

A team official said Havens may have felt something in the area earlier in camp, but "he said he felt good today."
