PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Frank Francisco, who has not been permitted to throw in camp because he developed elbow inflammation on the eve of the official report date, is scheduled to resume tossing on flat ground today.

The Mets still aim to get Francisco ready for Opening Day, although Bobby Parnell has been informed to prepare for the closer's role.

Francisco underwent surgery in December to remove a bone spur from his right elbow. His rehab was interrupted because of family issues, GM Sandy Alderson has said.
