PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Jenrry Mejia, who was scratched from Tuesday's "B" game appearance and dispatched to New York to visit team doctors, is being examined for a thyroid issue, not any baseball injury, a source familiar with the issue told ESPNNewYork.com.

It's been a rough camp for Mejia, whose arrival was delayed by visa scrutiny. He allowed five runs (four earned) in one inning in his lone Grapefruit League appearance.

Mejia likely is ticketed for Triple-A Las Vegas' rotation to open the season.
