PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Ike Davis said he would be eager to get the call to replace injured Mark Teixeira on Team USA's roster for the World Baseball Classic, but the first baseman expects Paul Konerko and Ryan Howard would have to decline participation in order for him to receive the invite.

"That's pretty big names, and they've been doing it for a while," Davis said. "... I don't expect a call. Obviously they've got tons of options at first base."

Davis said he was added to Team USA's list of potential replacements a few days before spring training began.

He recently received a text message from David Wright saying Joe Torre was asking about him.

Davis last represented Team USA in the 2009 World Cup in Germany and Italy.

"Of course I would love to do it," Davis said.
