Shaun Marcum will throw a controlled game at the team's Port St. Lucie, Fla., complex on Tuesday. Assuming he completes that outing OK, Marcum will be activated from the disabled list Sunday for a start against the Miami Marlins at Citi Field.

Marcum logged only 9 2/3 Grapefruit League innings, and did not appear in a spring-training game after March 16.

He received a cortisone shot in his shoulder nearly two weeks ago for an impingement, and more recently had dealt with neck discomfort.

Collins said Marcum came through a Saturday bullpen session without complications. The Mets will have Marcum throw five 15-pitch innings Tuesday.

The Mets are carrying eight relievers until Marcum is activated from the DL.
