DENVER -- The Mets will learn more about the severity of the elbow injury suffered by pitching prospect Luis Mateo after an exam Thursday, Sandy Alderson told ESPNNewYork.com.

Mateo left Tuesday's Double-A Binghamton game after delivering three pitches in the fourth inning. Manager Pedro Lopez indicated the issue was with Mateo's elbow or forearm.
