DENVER -- In explaining the swap of Jeurys Familia and Greg Burke on the major league roster, Terry Collins said Burke needs to develop his changeup.

Burke only switched to a submarine delivery 13 months ago and is still honing things. He was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas before Wednesday's postponement.

"I told him: 'Go down there and continue to work at some things,'" Collins said. "We saw the other night in Minnesota how dominant he can be when the sinker is working and he's pounding the strike zone. And, again, our conditions have been tough to get a consistent feel of the baseball. ...

"The main thing is you have to be able to change some speeds. He's working as hard as he can. He's working on trying to get a changeup. Last night in both games he threw three changeups and really had no feel for it. Again, it's tough to pitch [in the cold]. That's going to really help him, to get guys off of the fastball a little bit."
