Mets fans cheered and applauded Friday when it was announced that the second suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings had been apprehended. Chants of "USA!" quickly broke out afterward from the elated crowd.

The Mets broadcasted the news on their Jumbotron in center field, showing the message two times. They first showed it right after Matt Harvey escaped a bases-loaded, no-outs situation in the seventh, and again a few moments later.

Two years ago, the Mets were playing in Philadelphia when the news broke that Osama Bin Laden had been killed. The fans at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia chanted "USA!" that night as well.

The Mets also honored Boston prior to the start of the ninth inning as they played "Sweet Caroline", a Fenway Park tradition, and showed a Boston cap on the Jumbotron.
