WHAT IT MEANS: Terry Collins might want to trash this new lineup.

After Collins moved around some hitters Friday, the Mets responded by failing to score in a 4-0 loss to the Phillies on Friday night at Citi Field. The Mets were shut out for the first time this season.

UNDER .500: For the first time all year, the Mets have dropped below .500. The team had a strong start to the year but has been inconsistent since. If not for a ninth-inning rally Wednesday, the Mets could be losers of four straight.

NEW LINEUP: The new lineup had David Wright batting cleanup and Daniel Murphy batting third. It produced three hits against Philadelphia starter Kyle Kendrick. The Mets earned only one walk, failing to work the count against Kendrick as he breezed through a complete game.

TOUGH SIXTH: Dillon Gee had been cruising through the first five innings but it all went south in the sixth as he faced the Phillies' lineup for the third time. The first three hitters all reached with singles, putting the Phillies up 1-0, and Ryan Howard followed with a three-run homer to center to put Philadelphia up 4-0. Gee gave up seven hits in six innings.

BETTER, THOUGH: The last time Gee faced Philadelphia, he gave up seven runs in three innings and surrendered 10 hits. He did better this time, but that sixth inning made the difference in the game. He's now 1-4 in his first five starts.

THERE GOES THE UMP: With Wright coming to bat in the bottom of the first, plate umpire Brian O'Nora left the game with what was described as flu-like symptoms. The game stopped for approximately 10 minutes, and he did not return. Adrian Johnson took over behind the plate.

UP NEXT: Shaun Marcum makes his season debut Saturday and will oppose Jonathan Pettibone (0-0, 3.38 ERA) at 1:05 p.m. ET.
