NEW YORK -- Matt Harvey will not need to miss a start because of Saturday's back issue, which forced him from the game after taking the mound for the eighth inning.

In fact, Terry Collins plans to use Harvey on Thursday against the St. Louis Cardinals at Citi Field, and let Shaun Marcum -- who pitched eight innings in relief and exceeded 100 pitches in the 20-inning game -- have the extra day of rest.

So the rotation going forward looks like:

Tuesday: Jeremy Hefner

Wednesday: Dillon Gee

Thursday: Harvey

Friday: Marcum

Saturday: Jonathon Niese

Harvey said a chiropractic maneuver in the trainer’s room popped his back into place.

“Everything is fine,” Harvey said. “I woke up today. Felt good. They told me my start date is Thursday. So I’m ready to go.”

Harvey will do his full between-starts routine. He said he sporadically had similar issues at the University of North Carolina without any lasting effect.

“In college it happened a couple of times,” Harvey said. “It hasn’t happened since then. It was a quick thing. Once it was realigned, it was back to normal.”
