MILWAUKEE -- Kirk Nieuwenhuis banged his right knee in a mild collision with left fielder Eric Young Jr. on an attempted eighth-inning catch, but is OK, a team spokesman said after the Mets lost to the Milwaukee Brewers, 7-6, Saturday.

Nieuwenhuis gingerly left the field after Young caught the ball for the third out. He then made the game's final out, striking out against ex-Met Francisco Rodriguez.

Nieuwenhuis, who had the leg heavily wrapped after the game, would have been unlikely to start Sunday anyway with the Mets facing left-hander Tom Gorzelanny.
