MIAMI -- Right-hander Noah Syndergaard has been named Eastern League Player of the Week.

Syndergaard, obtained with Travis d'Arnaud and Wuilmer Becerra from the Toronto Blue Jays for R.A. Dickey in December, is 4-0 with a 2.25 ERA in seven starts since joining the B-Mets. He has struck out 46 and walked eight in 36 innings since the promotion to Double-A.

Jonathon Niese is visiting the Mets in Miami today and plans to throw a bullpen session for staff. Niese tossed two innings Saturday with the Gulf Coast League Mets in his first game action since returning from a partially torn rotator cuff in his left shoulder.

Lucas Duda's rehab assignment for an intercostal muscle strain is shifting from the Gulf Coast League to the Class A St. Lucie Mets today. D'Arnaud (foot) remains with the GCL club.

Jason Bay has been designated for assignment by the Seattle Mariners to clear a spot for the return of Michael Morse from the disabled list. Bay was hitting .204 with 11 homers in 206 at-bats.
Adam Rubin has covered the Mets since 2003. He's a graduate of Mepham High School on Long Island and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He joined ESPNNewYork after spending 10 years at the New York Daily News.
