MIAMI -- Matt Harvey said he likes having a routine, including pitching every fifth day.

The stats suggests a six-man rotation will agree with him, even if the ace does not love it, Terry Collins noted.

For Harvey's career, he has a not-too-shabby 3.08 ERA and .215 opponent batting average on regular rest.

His ERA drops to 1.77 with a .201 opponent batting average with one extra day of rest.

The ERA plummets to 0.77 with a .129 opponent batting average in the seven career starts in which he has received more than one extra day of rest.

Harvey is on the mound at 12:40 this afternoon as the Mets complete a four-game series with the Miami Marlins.

"As we're moving forward here with this extra pitcher in the rotation right now, we're hoping that's going to keep Matt fresh and keep him strong," Collins said.

As for Harvey being winless in three starts against the Marlins this season, Collins added: "This team has been tough on him because they're tough to strike out. They all put the ball in play."
