With 29 road games still remaining this season, the New York Mets are approaching some unwelcome history.
Saturday’s 3-2 loss in 13 innings to the Los Angeles Dodgers was the 12th walk-off loss of the season.
That’s already two shy of matching the franchise record, set by the 1974 and ’78 editions.
Worse, the Mets already are within four of matching the major league record of 16 since divisional play began in 1969, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. That dubious distinction currently is shared by the ’75 Houston Astros and ’69 San Francisco Giants.
