NEW YORK -- The Mets will play the next several weeks without star David Wright, and they began life without their third baseman with a 4-3 loss in 12 innings to the Royals on Saturday at Citi Field.

Wright landed on the DL with a right hamstring strain, and Mets manager Terry Collins estimated the third baseman would be out for three to five weeks.

Wright said it "wasn't wise" to play through a lingering hamstring issue. Read more in the Star-Ledger and Newsday.
