NEW YORK -- Wilmer Flores' 22nd birthday party will be spent at Citi Field.

The prospect has been promoted to the major league club.

Flores played a full game Monday night for Triple-A Las Vegas, going 1-for-5 with a double and run scored in the 51s' 5-2 win at Memphis. Flores made his third straight start at third base and appeared at the hot corner for fourth time this season.

Flores hit .321 with 15 homers and 86 RBIs in Triple-A this season. A natural shortstop, he had been moved off the position last season and primarily had played second base in 2013.

Bobby Parnell is expected to land on the disabled list. That would restore the Mets' bench to five players. It also would allow Terry Collins not to have to shift Daniel Murphy to third base and Eric Young Jr. to second base.
Adam Rubin has covered the Mets since 2003. He's a graduate of Mepham High School on Long Island and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He joined ESPNNewYork after spending 10 years at the New York Daily News.
