Flores 'a little bit too excited' in debut

lastname Flores NEW YORK -- Wilmer Flores finished 0-for-4 with an error in eight innings at third base in his major league debut. Justin Turner then replaced Flores for the final frame of a 3-2 win against the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday night at Citi Field.

"A little bit too excited," Flores described his emotions. "You want to do well. I was a little bit nervous that first at-bat, but I had fun."

As for the error, which came on a grounder to his left as the Rockies loaded the bases in the sixth inning against Jenrry Mejia, Flores suggested he just needs a little more acclimation time to third base. He had started only four games at the position for Triple-A Las Vegas this season, including three straight immediately preceding his big-league promotion.

"That groundball I couldn't handle it," Flores said. "But I feel great. I have a lot of confidence in myself. I feel comfortable in both positions -- second base and third base. I think I just need to play a little bit more so I can adjust to it. But I feel comfortable in both."
